2. California Alternate Assessments (CAAs) for ELA and mathematics is given to students with the most significant cognitive disabilities who are unable to take the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments
3. California Science Test (CAST) [or the CAA in Science alternative] in grade five aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (adopted in 2013).
English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC): Designated State and federal law require that school dsitricts adminster a state test of English language proficiency to eligible students in kindergarten through grade twelve.The ELPAC will be aligned to the 2012 California English Language Development Standards. It will be comprised of two separate assessments: one for initial identificatoin of students as English learners (ELs), and a second for the annual summative assessment to measure student progress in learning English and to identify students' level of English language proficiency. District Mandated Testing
Includes the Stanford Diagnostic Reading Test (SDRT) and the Analytic Reading Inventory (ARI) for grades 4 & 5 and the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) for grades K-3. Fifth graders are also given a mathematics exit exam, Mathematics Readiness Assessment, used for placement at the middle school level.
Special Education Testing
Parents/guardians may request that a district psychologist and resource specialist evaluate their children for learning disabilities. Requests are to be made to the principal. An Instructional Study Team (IST) will meet with the parent or guardian to determine the appropriateness of the request.
